Kokua recently announced the hiring of Andreas ‘Andy’ Gruendel as program manager at its headquarters in Newport News, VA.
Andy began his military career in the Bundeswehr’s (German Army) Special Operational Forces. Upon moving to the United States, he joined the U.S. Army and rose through the highest enlisted ranks culminating with an assignment as the Operations Sergeant’s Major of an Airborne Infantry Task Force. With five combat deployments, two with Special Operation Forces, he has developed a keen understanding of leading people under extreme conditions.
After his military career, Andy entered the civilian workforce specializing in business development and project management. He has served as the Director of Business Development for Fortune 500 companies leading large and diverse teams. Andy has served as the project manager on several large Department of Defense programs including the Future Immersive Training Environment (FITE) and Virtual Role-Player (VRP). Both programs focused on adding artificial intelligence to virtual characters to enhance the training experience.
Currently, Andy is completing a Ph.D. in Leadership and Executive Management with research focused on differentiating leadership and management and its impacts on corporations developing effective corporate strategies.
Andy joined Kokua as a Program Manager (PM). In the PM role, Andy will be working with direct employees across the board on various contracts, and at the same time searching for opportunities to help the company’s growth.
