Director of Business Development
As Director of Business Development, Michael Neyland leads Kokua’s business growth through focused market analysis, strategic planning, and generating an active pipeline that captures short-, mid- and long-term business opportunities, resulting in strong company growth and profitability. Mike fosters new business teaming partnerships and expands existing contracts, obtaining new work through prime or subcontract award from the Department of Defense, other government agencies, and industry. He leads an experienced proposal development team to consistently bring home the wins.
Mike served 22+ years with the United States Air Force (USAF) as an air battle manager, squadron commander, air operations instructor, requirements director, and USAF and Allied command and control operations director for United States and Allied multi-disciplinary teams in operating locations that included Germany, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Guam, the Philippines, Hawaii and Alaska. His military career positioned him to segue easily into the defense contracting industry where he served as program manager, capture manager, and senior business development manager for US national and international teams before coming to Kokua.
His deep knowledge of capture, proposal leadership and management of high-value enterprise information management—combined with extensive experience in command and control, modeling and simulation, and wargaming programs and requirements—make him key to Kokua’s business development success.
Mike holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Troy State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus. He is an in-resident graduate of the USAF Squadron Officers School and completed the USAF Air Command and Staff and USAF Air War College.
