Human Resources Director
Kokua’s Human Resources Director, John Alcini, joined the company in July 2016. His 18 years of professional experience has been a valuable asset in helping guide Kokua through its successful transition from 8(a) to small business status. John brings proven management, coordination, compliance and administrative skills to the leadership team, with whom he works closely to develop and execute best practice strategies in the area of human resource functions. His goal is to ensure Kokua delivers excellent service to its clients while maintaining the trademark culture of family values that has made Kokua a standout in its field.
John’s human resource background spans a number of industries—government contracting, construction, and the services industry—resulting in unique insights into various company cultures and the challenges growing businesses encounter. Before coming to Kokua, he was human resources manager for Top Guard Security, Inc., and prior to that, a human resources business partner at Oceaneering Marine Services Division in Chesapeake, Virginia.
John earned an MBA with a concentration in project management and an undergraduate degree in psychology; his professional certifications include Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) as well as Society for Human Resource Management—Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). He is a member of the national SHRM as well as the local SHRM chapter. He has two daughters, is an avid reader, amateur biologist, and loves spending time with his family and cooking.
