Job Summary

The Word Processor II will assist in preparing, transcribing, transferring, systematizing, and preserving both written and computerized communications and records; gathering and distributing information; operating office machines; storing, distributing, accounting for stores of materials; and distributing mail and delivering messages.  Also, this category of support provides protection of property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards or interference.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

(1) Provides data entry into the Standard Procurement System (SPS) of all requisitions received for processing in the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) Branch. The requisitions will be coded with the designated buyer for routing purposes.

(2) Responds to customer inquiries for status on requisitions processed in the Acquisition Department by searching on the SPS and Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP) systems. Customer inquiries can be received in person, telephone, email, and/or fax.  Responses to inquiries must be made within two hours of receipt. Provides buyer name and telephone number to the customer.

(3) Meets and greets customers and visitors to the SAP Branch. Contacts the buyer providing visitor name and company/command representing. Directs customers and visitors to the Contracts Divisions as appropriate.

(4) Downloads and prints requisitions from Web OTF (One Touch Financial), NERP and/or e-mail and passes to the equipment specialist for technical screening.  The contractor will be trained by the government to access Standard Procurement System (SPS), Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP), and Web One Touch Financial (Web OTF).

Minimum requirements for the position include:

  • -Must have obtained a High School diploma or GED
  • -Possess a minimum of four (4) years administrative experience, with at least two (2) years in a Navy or Marine Corps environment
  • -Proficient in the operation of a computer and printer to learn how to access required applications, databases and systems
  • -Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
